Conservative Heidi Thiess Wins "Lion's Share" of GRW Straw Poll Votes
On March 21st, members of the community attended the Galveston Republican Women's Candidate Forum at Fisherman's Wharf. The voters who were given the opportunity to assess the candidates for HD-23, HD-24, and SD-11 as they spoke on issues such as education reform, TWIA, tort reform, and public housing. In an overwhelming show of support, the voters who attended the forum voted for Heidi Thiess as the best representative for HD-24. Jeannie Koenig, President of the Galveston Republican Women's Club wrote to Thiess, "Your command of the issues, your energy and enthusiasm, and your willingness to work for Texas earned you the lion's share of the votes cast in the straw poll!"
This is Heidi Thiess' third straight win in straw polling among likely voters. She won both the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll and the Galveston County Tea Party Candidate Forum Straw Poll in January. "These polls confirm that informed voters truly want change from the old boy club politics that has gotten us into such a mess to begin with," stated Thiess. "Voters are looking for a new breed of citizen leader that is committed to serving them and not the special interest groups."
Lianne Russell, Thiess' campaign manager added, "I appreciate every opportunity I can get to put Heidi on a stage with her two opponents because the choice becomes crystal clear when voters get to compare. Heidi's strength on all the issues, her long-term commitment to Conservative ideals, and her authenticity always seal the deal for voters, and the straw polls confirm that. The citizens of District 24 deserve to have Heidi working full-time for them."
