I am cognizant that I am applying to serve my neighbors, and represent their values in Austin. I pledge to serve as a Citizen Legislator (in all that entails) - and NOT my own ends. For too long, we have tolerated politicians who hide their motives behind patriotic politispeak, but have personal agendas that transpire behind the closed doors of the Capitol. FOLLOW THE MONEY.
I am part of a counter-surge of citizen activists who will not stand for it anymore. To that end, I am not behaving like a safe political candidate, putting out a bland platform of bulleted Party issues. I've always resented that typical politicians hide themselves behind a carefully crafted image protected by rhetoric and spin, and so I am striving mightily to do and act otherwise - some would say to my own detriment. But you know what? Our state and our nation desperately need a NEW BREED of leaders, and I am applying to be one of them. So I am giving you everything I would want from someone applying for this job. I can give you no less than the transparency I myself demand from our political representatives.
Thus, I have spent pages upon pages detailing my background on this website... suffice it to say that my history has made me who I am today and brings me to this point in time to take part in a bold strategy for the future of our state and our nation. I would like to be considered for a role in this plan.
All my life, I have continuously prepared for and searched for my place in the fabric of my nation's history. Where and how can I be most effective in fulfilling my oath of service? I believe I now have an answer to that question. My decision to run for election has carried particular significance for me, due in great part to my own personal history and experience in service. I am prepared and eager to once again be part of a mission greater than myself.
That is the underpinning of my life's preparation and purpose. This is much more to me than mere excitement or a visceral reaction to an exciting challenge. I'm more comfortable in the realm of rational thought than emotional response. But I cannot deny that I feel a resonance deep down in the core of who I am, that I am meant for this mission. My passions and my character, my upbringing and life experiences all have brought me to this precise moment in time for this precise purpose.
I would be honored to be considered for the opportunity to serve Texas and my country once again.
